My aim at the moment is to experiment in creating similar images using different methods. The two previous images are either done left handed or with my eyes shut. This one is using pencil whilst concentrating using my right hand. There are more to come soon, hopefully using different materials for example, indian ink. Let me know if you have anymore ideas on materials or methods I could use.
My current project is ‘Faces’. Part of the project is to create a poster that will advertise Newport Graduate Festival, so eventually there will be some typography involved. This is the first step of my development. I have chosen to cover the subject ‘Face of Nature’ and use photographs of the students layered with Lake District photos (nature). There is a certain ‘green’ feel to these images, which will coincide with the city campus’ ‘eco’ status.
Here are my first attempts, let me know what you think.
Antony Gormley is a well known sculptor born in London, he’s received awards and held exhibitions all over the world. Gormley is a sculptor who’s work is relative to shape and geometry (although not all of it). The majority of his work is based on people, but he has occasionally delved into experimentation with both geometry and people, he has managed to create figures from:
” tetrahedral, cubic, dodecahedral and more complex polygons”
His illustrations really reflect the thought behind his sculptures.
This is his project in 2009-2010 called Aperture.
I also recommend for you to look at other projects, specifically: Exposed Expansion Works (2007-2008), Hive (2006-2009) and Feeling Material (2003-2008).
